Five Texas State University Querétaro Student-Athletes Shine at the Inter-PARR Academies Invitational 2026
Five student-athletes from Texas State University Querétaro took their talent to a new competitive stage during the Inter-PARR Academies Invitational 2026, achieving the men’s championship and women’s runner-up title alongside their regional rugby teams.
Effort, discipline, and a passion for sports can create opportunities beyond the university. For five members of our community, that opportunity came during the Inter-PARR Academies Invitational 2026, a tournament that brought together young national rugby talents and international guests in Dos Ríos, Huixquilucan, State of Mexico.
Their participation represented an opportunity to test their skills, gain high-level experience, and continue building their sporting careers while representing the dedication and commitment of our university community.
Three National Champions and Two National Runners-Up
In the men’s division, Jesús Sebastián Segovia Moncada, Marco Uriza Guajardo, and Ause Fernando Solís Ramos were part of the Northeast regional team, with which they won the Inter-PARR M20 category championship after defeating the Oriente regional team 17-7 in the final.
For their part, Itzia Ramírez Razo and Regina González Jurado represented the Central regional team in the M20 women’s category, achieving the runner-up position after facing Canadian academy MacDowell Rugby in the final, which ended 17-0.
These results reflect the preparation and commitment of our five student-athletes, who contributed to their teams’ performances and gained significant experience in their athletic development.
Beyond their achievements, competing at this level allowed them to strengthen their teamwork, adapt to different playing styles, and experience the demands of high-level competition. These opportunities are important steps in their growth as athletes and students.
More Experience, New Challenges, and Great Opportunities
The Inter-PARR is part of Rugby Mexico’s Regional High Performance Program (PARR), an initiative that brings together youth teams from different regions of the country to evaluate their competitive level and strengthen their preparation.
Beyond the results, this program seeks to align player development with the playing system of Mexico’s national rugby teams, known as Serpientes, and contribute to developing talent with potential for future opportunities in international competition.
For our students, participating in these events means facing new challenges, sharing the field with athletes from other regions, and continuing to grow within a competitive environment.
Each competition also provides valuable lessons that extend beyond sports, including leadership, adaptability, and the importance of working toward a common goal. These experiences help student-athletes build confidence and prepare for future challenges.
