The Wittliff Collections Arrives at Texas State University Querétaro

On October 23, 2026, Texas State University Querétaro and Elisia Education Hub celebrated the opening of a special exhibition of The Wittliff Collections, which brings together works by renowned Mexican photographers and brings the cultural richness of our country closer to the university community.

Photography has the power to preserve stories, bring cultures closer together, and reveal new perspectives on the world. Through each image, we can discover traditions, identities, and experiences that form part of our heritage.

This initiative represents an opportunity for students, teachers, and visitors to explore new artistic perspectives and discover how art can connect communities beyond borders.

An exhibition that celebrates Mexican identity

Each photograph tells a story and offers a unique perspective on the culture, traditions, and people that define Mexico. The exhibition presents a selection of works that highlight the richness of Mexican cultural heritage, inviting viewers to recognize the value of preserving and sharing these artistic expressions.

The exhibition is part of the initiatives of The Wittliff Collections, a renowned research center, archive and museum founded in 1986 by Bill Wittliff and located at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.

Since its creation, this institution has been dedicated to preserving and disseminating the cultural legacy of Texas, the southwestern United States, and Mexico through photography, literature, music, and film.
