From October 12 to 16, Texas State University Querétaro, in conjunction with Elisia Education Hub, celebrated Engineering Week 2026, a week dedicated to bringing students closer to the professional world of engineering through conferences, workshops, projects, and experiences with industry specialists.
Engineering is present in the technologies we use, the systems that connect us, and the solutions that transform our environment. Behind every advance are people who dared to question, experiment, and turn their ideas into reality.
Under this vision, Engineering Week 2026 created a space for students to explore new areas of knowledge, strengthen their skills, and discover how to apply what they have learned in the classroom to the challenges of the professional world.
Turning knowledge into real-world solutions
Over five days, the program brought together topics related to technological innovation, manufacturing, aerospace industry, sustainability, artificial intelligence applied to processes and engineering systems development.
Specialists and representatives from organizations such as Ford Motor Company, Microsoft, ZF Group, Valeo, Eaton, Fastenal and Instituto Politécnico Nacional were part of an agenda that connected different disciplines with the current needs of the industry.
The activities included workshops on Lean Thinking, negotiation, systems architecture and software, as well as lectures on predictive molecular engineering, thermal projection technologies and aerodynamic analysis using computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
Furthermore, an industrial visit to SACSA Tools, organized in conjunction with the Mexican Association of Surface Finishing Manufacturers (AMAS), provided an opportunity to connect academic concepts with real-world manufacturing processes. These experiences familiarize future engineers with the tools, knowledge, and perspectives that can contribute to their professional development.
Women in Engineering: voices shaping the future of engineering
One of the highlights was the Women in Engineering panel, held on October 14, which brought together seven professionals from organizations such as Bombardier, Valeo, Kiewit, Toyota, Stellantis, and AMAS, as well as a representative from academia. Through their diverse career paths, this meeting allowed participants to explore the experiences, opportunities, and challenges that are part of women’s professional development in engineering.
The panel also highlighted the importance of understanding different perspectives and professional role models, demonstrating the diversity of paths that can be built within this discipline.
Engineering ExpoPosters: Ideas brought to life through engineering
Innovation also played a leading role during Engineering ExpoPosters Querétaro 2026, an inter-university exhibition organized by Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering SAMPE and Elisia Education Hub.
This activity provided a platform for students to present research projects, prototypes, and proposals, highlighting the role of creativity, critical thinking, and the practical application of knowledge in engineering. Beyond theoretical concepts, this type of initiative encourages university students to explore new solutions, communicate their ideas, and develop skills that will be fundamental to their future careers.
A university experience that goes beyond the classroom
Engineering Week 2026 also incorporated activities to strengthen coexistence and participation of the student community.
From a basketball game and a bonfire to a Rap Show and the Soapbox Rally, organized with the participation of Red Bull, the week integrated spaces where creativity, collaboration and university life also took center stage.
These activities complemented an academic agenda designed to connect people, ideas, and technology.
